Seigfreid Bingham has named Greg Whiston as the new chair of its Litigation practice group.

As a litigator, Greg’s practice focuses on sports and entertainment, construction, the equipment dealer industry, and general business litigation. In Greg’s sports law practice, he represents professional and amateur sports organizations in a wide variety of matters. Greg serves as lead trial counsel for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) and three other Division II athletic conferences in a nationwide class action litigation involving head trauma in college football. Greg is also the co-developer/leader of the firm’s “Empower U” service, which provides conferences and institutions guidance on name, image, and likeness (NIL) matters in college athletics.

Greg is also a leading litigator in the equipment dealer industry, representing equipment dealers nationwide in disputes with manufacturers. In 2020, Greg served as lead counsel in a lawsuit that secured a $5.8 million jury verdict on behalf of an equipment dealer in a wrongful termination claim against a manufacturer – the fourth-largest jury verdict in Missouri in 2020. In addition to his work with sports organizations and equipment dealers, Greg also regularly represents clients in a wide array of other matters, including construction disputes, partnership/shareholder disputes, and real estate.

“As Chair, Greg will bring valuable legal experience and dynamic leadership to the firm’s Litigation group,” said the outgoing chair and shareholder, Brenda Hamilton. “He is a multi-faceted attorney and a valuable contributor to the firm. It’s a pleasure to now hand the reins over to Greg, who will do a great job.”
