Joe joined Seigfreid Bingham in 2003 and has been practicing law in Kansas City for almost 40 years. During that time, Joe helped clients navigate through a wide range of legal and business issues. Joe was General Counsel to the Health Midwest Health Care System before and during the sale to HCA. This experience gave him a unique perspective on how clients view legal services. He serves as member of and counsel to the Boards of Directors of Hospitals and other entities both inside and outside of the health care field. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Hunt Midwest Enterprise. From 2006 through 2014, he was Managing Director of Seigfreid Bingham.
It’s these types of leadership roles that set Joe apart. He has made decisions both as client and attorney, and has a unique perspective on the pressures clients face when making important business decisions. His responsive, practical and efficient approach results in strong and long-lasting relationships with clients.
A mergers and acquisitions practice for deals big and small.
While General Counsel of the Health Midwest system, Joe was intimately involved in the sale of the system to HCA. Working with attorneys at Seigfreid Bingham, which was the outside counsel to Health Midwest at the time, Joe directed the work on the $1.1 Billion transaction, which was at the time the largest sale transaction involving a not for profit hospital. Joe has been lead counsel on numerous transactions inside and outside of the health care industry. He understands the challenges faced by buyers and sellers and guides clients through those challenges to meet their goals.
Giving back to the Kansas City community.
Joe is also very active in the Kansas City community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Village Shalom Retirement Community in Johnson County and as a member of the local advisory board and executive committee of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. He is a member of the audit committee of the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, a local, federally qualified health center. He has served on the boards of: Menorah Medical Center (and was Chair of that organization); Health Midwest; Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance; the Jewish Heritage Foundation; the Menorah Legacy Foundation; and others.
