Seigfreid Bingham is pleased to announce that Rita Cortes has been named a Shareholder of the firm.  Rita practices primarily in the firm’s Construction, Real Estate, Tax and General Corporate groups.

“Rita is a skilled attorney who is absolutely committed to providing responsive, excellent service to our clients,” said Joe Hiersteiner, Seigfreid Bingham’s Managing Director.  “Her service to the community is very well known.  This was an easy decision for us.”

Rita joined Seigfreid Bingham in 2013.  Prior to that, she served as chief executive officer of Hoffman Cortes Contracting Company, a commercial construction company, where she was responsible for all operations including construction law matters, contract negotiation, employment agreements, financial management, risk management, and surety relations.  During her 20 years with the company, she also oversaw private real estate ownership, development and management, regularly participating with outside partners in the development of retail properties, small office buildings, and commercial properties.

Rita is active in the community and currently serves on the boards of the Kansas City CARE Clinic, Truman Medical Centers, the Midwest Innocence Project, Menorah Legacy Foundation and Village Shalom.  She also serves as a mentor in the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program.  Rita received her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, her J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law, and her B.A. in Political Science at Rice University.
