Seigfreid Bingham has named Lori Beam, a nationally recognized health care attorney, as the new chair of its health care industry practice. With more than three decades in the field, she has represented health systems, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician groups and other providers.

Beam helps clients on legal and operational issues, including recruiting and employing physicians, selling and acquiring health care businesses, complying with federal anti-kickback laws and referral prohibitions, leasing and subleasing medical office space, acquiring electronic health record systems and obtaining management services. For 2021 she is being recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the “Health Law” category. She also practices general business law and advertising, marketing and promotions law.

“As chair, Lori will help our health law group continue to ensure we remain national experts on new laws and issues facing health businesses and that we have capacity to deliver superior results while retaining our reputation for responsive, cost-effective service to our clients,” said outgoing chair Mark Thompson, who led the firm’s health care practice for 20 years. He will remain active in the practice and continue to help client health care businesses.

During more than 35 years of Seigfreid Bingham’s health care practice, the Seigfreid Bingham team has been assisting health care organizations – from individual providers and small groups to large health systems – navigate the complex legal and operational environment in a rapidly evolving industry. They have successfully led complex hospital mergers and acquisitions, including the merger of two competing hospital systems and the then largest sale of a nonprofit hospital system to a for-profit buyer.
